NEW TABLE TENNIS CLUBS ARE HERE:

Two new table tennis clubs are opening up in Winnipeg and others have started up in Gilbert Plains, Grand Rapids, Waterhen, Wabowden and Jackhead.

The first operates out of the Kirkfield-Westwood Community Centre at 165 Sansome Avenue and runs every second Thursday evening from 7-9pm.  The club is a member club of the M.T.T.A. but all players must pay a $5 per night drop-in fee.  The club is run by Glen Sikorski in conjunction with the Community Centre and play is conducted on their five tables.  Glen welcomes all players but reminds players that he is on the hook for the $40/ night rental fee so EVERYONE MUST PAY THE DROP-IN FEE…NO EXCEPTIONS!  Contact Glen at 229-9036 for more info.

The second club in the works will operate Sunday evenings from 6-9 pm out of the Red River Community Centre, 293 Murray Avenue.  Play will commence in early April and will run for 10 weeks.  A $50 fee will be charged to play from 6-8 pm and advance registrations will be required.  From 8-9 pm there will be drop-in play for $5 a night.  The M.T.T.A. expect that players who possess a “Max”, “Ten”, or “Quarter Pac” will be able to play here as well…but this will be confirmed in the near future.  Club co-coordinator will be the M.T.T.A.’s own “Fat Bobby” Wiewiora…otherwise known as Andrezj who also runs the John Pritchard Club.  Registration details can be obtained from Linda at 339-6278.

The Gilbert Plains Club operates every Tuesday night from 7-9 pm in the Rec. Centre.  A nominal user fee is charged and interested players should talk to either Dominic Gamache at 548-4177 or Dina Gouldsborough at 548-2063.

Most of the other clubs are during school hours only but we are trying to encourage these groups to get after hours clubs started as well.  In the near future, clubs might start up in Berens River,  Dauphin and the Island Lakes area.
