MTTA OFFICIALS CONTINUE TO TRAVEL THE WORLD:

Last month I reported that International Umpire Greg Dzioba had been selected by Table Tennis Canada and approved by the International Table Tennis Federation as Canada’s sole umpire at the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games.  Well, the ball doesn’t stop bouncing there….

Greg and fellow International Umpire Darek Mikita-who was Canada’s sole umpire in Athens at the 2004 Olympics-were in Palo Alto California last month to officiate and update their credentials at the ITTF World Junior Table Tennis Championships.  Then, in late December, Greg Chan represented Canada at the United States Open Paralympic Championships in  Chicago.  Greg is currently a National level umpire in training towards his International level.  Also, Darek is hoping to travel to Russia later this month to take his International Referees examination. 

Congratulations to all you guys on your selections!  Remember players-the MTTA do need more umpires and referees to run our events…especially so with the upcoming 2008 POWERSMART MANITOBA GAMES.  If you wish to get involved in umpiring or refereeing please contact the MTTA…Greg & Greg and the boys…and girl-long-time National Umpire Susan Page-would love to have you come out and get involved.
