HELP
YOUR ASSOCIATION
& HELP YOURSELF WHAT:
Each year Sport Manitoba award the M.T.T.A. approximately 15 fund
raising bingos. These are held at Club Regent & the McPhillips Street
Station. Days and start
times vary. The M.T.T.A.
must provide 7 volunteers for each bingo by the designated event start
time. Failure
to do so means that we could be suspended for 3 months.
Suspension would be disastrous for the M.T.T.A. as we raise
between $1,500 - $3,000 for each bingo.
The monies raised go into general M.T.T.A. revenues and thus help
cover the costs of gym rentals, equipment and administration for all
levels of programming from recreational through to high-performance.
Monies raised also help subsidize the costs of travel for our
Provincial teams and to promote the sport across Manitoba.
The bottom line is this: the
user fees that the M.T.T.A. charges players to participate seldom covers
program operating costs. As
such, all players have their table tennis play subsidized by the M.T.T.A.
and thus have a responsibility to volunteer to help with the bingos.
YOUR PARTICIPATION IS
CRUCIAL & IS EXPECTED!
A major impetus for this program was to allow
for parents of Provincial Team Athlete’s to volunteer for the bingos
to help cover the costs of their children’s out-of-province provincial
team activities. Over
the course of a season, these can ad up!
For our top-level athletes to remain competitive in Canada, they
need more out-of-province tournament and camp exposure.
However, the M.T.T.A do not have sufficient monies to fund 100%
of all of these opportunities. It
is a partnership between the M.T.T.A, the athlete, Sport Manitoba and
sometimes also Table Tennis Canada.
Thank you for your understanding and commitment and
co-operation. Ron
Edwards, Executive Director, M.T.T.A. WHEN:
Following are the dates, location and times for upcoming bingos.
Arrival time is at the start-time sharp!
Note – often the bingo halls let people go prior to the finish
time – the times listed are the maximum times you may be required.

Bill has helped at one “$30.00 bingo” so he submits his 2 x $15 slips worth a total of $30.00 and mails them in with his Red River Entry Form. He does not receive $5 change! (2) Provincial Team player Henrietta’s contribution towards her participation in the Saskatchewan Open is $70. Henrietta submits her 2 x $20 credit slips from a “$40.00 bingo” as payment plus $30.00 cash. PROGRAM RULES: 1.
Volunteers are signed up on a first-come, first served basis:
7 VOLUNTEERS plus 1 SPARE[1].
A family is
allowed one volunteer per bingo per Active member of the
Association, i.e. family X has 1 kid participating regularly as an
Active member in M.T.T.A programs-so they are allowed to have 1 person
per bingo…unless the bingo spots are not all filled 1 week
prior to the bingo event: (explanation
to follow). Family Y
has 2 kids participating regularly as Active members in M.T.T.A
programs-so they are allowed to have 2 persons work per bingo.
EXPLANATION: M.T.T.A
want to ensure that many families have a chance to participate in the
program. Therefore a family
cannot on a first-come first-served basis reserve 3 bingo spots and have
them guaranteed. Family
X with 1 kid playing can phone in and submit 2 names…the second
volunteer will only be allowed to work the bingo in question if a week
before, spots in it remain unfilled. 2.
To receive credits, players must submit the credit slips to the
M.T.T.A as part of payment for M.T.T.A programming by the regular
program deadlines. No
credit slip, no rebate for programming!
Also ¼
THERE ARE NO CASH PAYOUTS, NOR CHANGE PROVIDED. 3.
CREDITS REDEEMABLE AT FULL FACE VALUE FOR OUT-OF-PROVINCE
PROVINCIAL TEAM ACTIVITIES and for IN-PROVINCE PROGRAM EXPENSES. 4.
Credit slips must be redeemed in the fiscal/program year (Aug. 1
– July 31) during which they were earned.
5.
Penalties For No Show At Bingos:
If you have volunteered for a bingo and you need to cancel, you
must do so at least 6 hours
prior to the start of the bingo. This
is to allow time to find a replacement for you.
Persons must show up by the designated bingo start time.
PERSONS WHO DO NOT SHOW UP BY THE INDICATED START TIME WILL NOT
RECEIVE A CREDIT SLIP FOR THAT BINGO UNLESS THEY ARE STILL REQUIRED AND
ALLOWED TO WORK THE FLOOR! IN
THIS CASE THEY WILL RECEIVE ½ CREDIT VALUE!
Persons who volunteer for a bingo, and who do not show up at all
with no phone calls will be reported to the Executive of the M.T.T.A and
disciplinary action may follow. Disciplinary
action might include losing your bingo credits and losing the right to
volunteer for future bingos for a period of 3-6 months. 6.
Credit slips are like “cash” as they are used to pay for
program costs. Regular
program rules and regulations are in effect.
It is the responsibility of the player to monitor use of their
credits. If you lose your
credit slips, they will not be replaced! 7.
Credit slips are transferable; i.e. Bill can give his credit
slips to Frank to use. Bill
marks this on his credit slips in the section “USED TOWARDS ¼
.” RE/08/12/05 [1] SPARE: “SPARE” is expected to show up by the designated start time. If the SPARE fills in for a late volunteer, the spare will receive full credit value. If all the volunteers show up on time, i.e. all ten, and the spare is not required to work, the spare can go home but will still receive ½ credit value.
