ST. JAMES-ASSINIBOIA SCHOOL DIVISION 1^ST ANNUAL

"GET OFF THE COUCH"
 TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT

 On Friday May 9^th at Hedges Middle School, the MTTA assisted the St. James-Assiniboia School Division with the running of their first ever table tennis tournament. It is hoped that this will turn into an annual event.

Point man for the school division was Mr. Derek Bramadat who is their Phys. Ed. and Health Coordinator.  Mr. Bramadat borrowed numerous print and video resources from the MTTA and will be putting together resource packages for Division schools: TOPs plus a DVD/ video tool.

This initiative followed a clinic for Division teachers held in the fall of 2006.

Unfortunately, despite best efforts by the MTTA and Mr. Bramadat, only Hedge’s took the time to enter players.  13 boys and girls entered but only 10 showed up.

GIRLS RESULTS:

Megan Paille def. Kaylie Hall 11-3,11-5,11-2,11-7.

BOYS RESULTS:

Sergiu Buda def. Jonathan Lim 11-9,11-9.

Results were coded and count towards Manitoba and Canadian Ratings & Rankings and all players were given free passes to play at the MTTA’s Recreational Practice Clubs as preparation for the upcoming Winnipeg Region Power Smart Manitoba Summer Games Trials to be held June 21^st at Crescentwood Community Centre.
