CENTRAL
REGION RESULTS The trials for the Central Region were hosted on
Saturday May 10th at Elm Creek School. 17 players from 7
communities throughout the Region signed up to play but 2 were a no
show. The winner from each
of the four categories will make up the Central Region Team and the 4
runner-ups will represent the Host Team in Carman this August 12-14.
Athletes started showing up at 9 am and warmed up through a big contest
of “top table.” This
allowed Referee Ron Edwards to get an idea of the level of play of the
athletes for seeding purposes. While
the athletes were practicing, MTTA Officials Development Chairperson,
Mr. Greg Chan, was conducting a Club Umpires Seminar & Exam.
This clinic - which covers the basic rules of table tennis - was
attended by Ed Schroeder of Elm Creek and Bob Kowalchuk of
Carman…other bystanders could not be coerced to join in. After 2 ½ hours of play the following were the results: GIRLS
